This project was an eye opener for me to learn more to better serve my clients. A lovely woman with MS reached out for a hope upgrade to get ahead of her condition. She is a mom of 5 beautiful kids, bakes, cans, and cooks like you see in the movies (not at my house). She sees her prognosis getting worse and wanted to make sure her home met her needs for as long as possible – she is choosing to age-in-place in a proactive way.

With some plan layout changes, larger more usable kitchen, her home works. We ensured accessible appliances and fixtures were installed, enough space for a wheelchair could maneuver.

We evaluated all the spaces, demoed a few walls, to make the space more efficient.
She taught me so much more than I helped her, I am sure of it. This women indirectly encouraged me to become an aging-in-place specialist and get certified with universal design. Forever grateful!
